ABOUT US
In the mid-1990s, the director and owner of the Gemax Construction Company discovered his passion for tennis at the Maks courts and racquet club next to the Intercontinental Hotel, now Crowne Plaza. The idea started as an idea to build a Gemax tennis club, with offices across the street. The goal was to create an oasis for tennis fans in a place that will be easily accessible to everyone, as well as a place where business people can rest and relax after a hard day’s work.
In March 1998, the second floor was completed with offices where construction company employees began to work. The opening of the tennis club was postponed due to the tragic events of the bombing of Belgrade and Serbia in 1999, but after that, the club was finally opened to visitors. However, the effort paid off, because as early as 2002, the club was ready to host Challenger tournaments.
The first winner of a tournament on the Gemax courts was the young talent Mario Ancic. These tournaments soon became a tradition, attracting great tennis stars such as Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Nenad Zimonjic, Janko Tipsarevic, Viktor Troicki, Ilija Bozoljac and many others. Tennis club Gemax then received the award for the best organized tournament in that category. Gemax tennis club has become not only a place for recreational players but also the epicenter of tennis passion and competition in Belgrade. With their work and dedication, they have become synonymous with top tennis in Serbia. In addition, live broadcasts of matches from the Challenger tournament on Radio-television of Serbia (RTS) further popularized the club, allowing a wider audience to enjoy the excitement of tennis matches and to feel part of this great sporting event.
